Can we check in anytime?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately no, as we are a privately run lodge and not a hotel. We ask you to let us know on the day of your arrival when you will arrive so that we can plan our day. You are welcome to send us a message via Booking.com or call us on  +354 620 98 50 . There is no manned reception, so we count on your cooperation.

Question 2

Are we allowed to check in earlier? (before 5 p.m.)

Accepted Answer

No, sorry. Since we need time between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to get the rooms ready for the next guests. Since we also have a property of 416 hectares to farm in addition to the guest business, it is not possible for us to be at home at all times. For these reasons, we thank you for your understanding and for respecting our privacy.

Are we allowed to check in later? (after 9 p.m.)

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately no. Please understand that we would like to keep the night's rest from 10 p.m. We also ask you to behave respectfully towards the other guests who are in the accommodation. For this reason, we cannot allow cooking and showering after 10 p.m. Thank you for observing the nightly quiet times.

The check-in times also apply to the Tiny Houses. Exceptions to this are rest periods, cooking and showering, since you have an entire house to yourself and there are no other guests in the house. We ask you to behave accordingly and limit loud music or the like to room volume.

Question 4

Do you offer laundry service?

Unfortunately no. We need the washing machine for our guest business. You can do laundry at Camping Atlavik or at Tehusid in Egilsstadir.

Do you offer guided tours?

During the high season it is not possible for us to offer guided tours. However, we can always give you tips and information on what to do in the area.

Is the lodge accessible at all times of the year?

We also partially open the lodge during the winter months. In general, please consider checking the weather and road conditions at all times when planning your trip. You can check this at Road.is or vedur.is. Weather warnings are always announced in advance. The wind and snow conditions should not be underestimated and it can happen again and again that the roads (including 1) are closed. Remember to plan enough time for your daily routes to arrive at the accommodation on time

Are children allowed in the property?

The apartments are only approved for 2 adults. There is no possibility for extra beds or baby cots.
The Superior Tiny House, which is approved for 3 people, is an exception. Please contact us in advance if you would like to travel with a child.

Pets are only allowed on request and only in the apartments. Please contact us in advance.

How can I pay?

Accepted Answer

Accommodation must be paid in advance 30 days prior to arrival. If you book at short notice, you can also pay on the spot. We accept Visa/Debit …….

Cancellation policy

Accepted Answer

Free cancellation is possible up to 30 days before arrival. You will receive the entire amount back from the credit card company, with the exception of the fees incurred.
Up to 15 days before arrival you will receive a 50% refund, except for the fees charged by the credit card company.
After 15 days before arrival no refund is possible.

Are we allowed to check out later? (after 10.00 a.m.)

Unfortunately no here either. We require the time between check-in and check-out times for room cleaning and other commitments. Thank you for your understanding.

Question 12

How do we reach the property?

Hengifosslodge is about 35 km outside of Egilsstadir. You can reach us via road 931, the lodge is signposted. The road to our lodge is a gravel road but perfectly passable for all vehicles (you only need a 4x4 vehicle in the winter months).

Do you offer meals on site?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately no. All apartments and tiny houses have a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering. Please remember to make your purchases on time. You cannot buy groceries from us at the lodge. The nearest town for shopping is Egilsstadir.
